SIGNING: Landais joins from East Grinstead

Billy Wood11 Mar 2019 - 17:02

Goals, Goals, Goals....Landais joins for the run in!

We are delighted to announce the signing of East Grinstead striker George Landais who joins United for the remainder of the 2018/19 season.

George represented the Republic of Ireland at U16 level while on the books of Millwall, before going on to play youth and reserve team football for Aldershot Town. He joined Horsham for the first time in 2011, via Croydon Athletic, but then had the first of two spells in Sweden after which he returned to the UK and turned out for Herne Bay, Redhill, Chichester and Tooting & Mitcham. George continued to do what he does best, scoring 68 goals for Littlehampton Town, prompting Lewes to come in for him.

Last season for Horsham, George scored 12 league goals in 18 starts and so far this season has 12 goals for Bostik League South East Division side East Grinstead.

First Team Manager, Arron Hopkinson added ‘I tried to sign George when I first took the job but it wasn’t the right time for him. I am delighted to bring in a proven goal scorer at the level above into this squad. George scored 68 goals over 2 seasons when last in this league so with him and Schaafie we have a lot of goals in this side. It’s now on us to create the opportunities and provide these two with the platform to do what they do best. I look forward to working with George and hoping he can contribute by firing us to safety.’

The Chairman, Billy Wood added ‘A prominent goal scorer, Landais joins with a strong goals/game ratio and when the opportunity presented itself we had to back the manager to bring in the quality George possesses. What a terrific signing going into our last run of games for survival. Bring on Tuesday night!’

Landais goes straight into the squad for Tuesday nights crunch game with Peacehaven & Telscombe FC. Come down to The Oval for a 7:45pm kick off and support the lads as they strive to take us off the bottom of the table!
