After a bit of a dry spell, United got back to winning ways on Tuesday in the RUR cup to give Ryan Cooper his first win as United Manager. St Francis Rangers have had their own troubles recently, but fielded a strong team to challenge United's injury hit side. In an end to end and fast paced match, it was Joel Kalambayi's rocket header just after the break that eventually separated the sides. United had the lion's share of the chances, although Charlie Barnard also worked hard for his first clean sheet of the campaign, and with no substitutes available, it was an industrious effort all round. Dale Penn left the field in injury time for a second yellow card, but even that could not take away the joy of a first win!
The first team have a week off to re-group now, while the Under 23's take on high flying AFC Uckfield at the Oval tonight at 7:45.
