Myra Stephens RIP

Eastbourne football's great friend dies

Very sad news this morning, we have to report the passing away of Myra Stephens at 85. Myra spent 15 years at the Oval, and was a phenomenal secretary during some very hard times for the club, as well as some great years. Together with her husband Jim, who was Chairman, she drove the club forward from County league through into the old Isthmian league.

Myra had been at Eastbourne Town for some 18 months, and as was typical of her, she got involved in every aspect of the club, from Tea making onwards through to secretary.

In 1994, Myra moved to Langney Sports (now Eastbourne Borough), where once again she acted as Club and Fixture Secretary right through to retirement, when of course, she didn't stop, but helped out behind the scenes with hospitality.

Local football is built upon rivalry - United, Town and Borough have had some great scraps over the years, but this morning we are all mourning the loss of Myra, and thank her once again for her wonderful service over so many years to Eastbourne Football.

Rest in Peace, Myra - you certainly deserve it.
