Saturday is the new….Saturday

Saturday is the new….Saturday

Steve Huxley

Back into the old routine!

Yes, it’s true- we are finally back to proper League football this Saturday as we welcome our old friends from Wick FC to the Oval Arena.
It’s been a fun preseason, we have learnt a lot and we have seen some very optimistic signs indeed.
During the summer we lost T’yano Wilson of course, and also Jordan Ray - we wish them both every success possible. We also welcomed back Callum Barlow, who has signed under contract with us, as we move to even more contracted status players; unusual at step 5 and expensive, but we are looking to do it to these guys, and they are doing the same.
Charlie Ball, Dan Hull Jake Prodger and James Hull have all signed contracts recently, and we are starting to get a very settled squad look!
If you sneak over to the fixtures panel, you will see that they are in there for the whole season now. Do not be alarmed that we have no FA Vase fixtures - after last season’s exploits, we do not have to take part in the two qualifying rounds, so we will enter at the first round proper when the draw is made.
In the Peter Bentley League cup we have also got a first round bye, then we are away to the winners of Westfield v Ringmer.
For the moment, we have Wick today, sadly without Callum Barlow, who is suspended following a red at the end of last season, and Charle Ball will be a late decision after his precautionary exit on Tuesday evening.
Let’s make some noise on Saturday and get right behind the boys for a good start to the season - on Tuesday evening we are “almost” at home, as we travel just up the A259 to Little Common.
