Eastbourne United AFC are through to the Second Round of the Parafix Sussex Senior Cup after a comfortable 3-0 victory at Midhurst & Easebourne

On a warm late summer afternoon in the heart of the South Downs, a youthful United side produced a confident display to see off their Division Two opponents.
United looked to utilize the returning duo of Aaron Capon and Charlie Osborne, with the pair attacking the Midhurst defence with real intent and vigour.
Capon somehow managed to find a way past three Midhurst defenders, but was just unable to release a shot that would shot that would seriously trouble home ‘keeper Ian Knight.
Despite United being in control for much of the tie, it wasn’t all one way traffic as Midhurst came close to opening the scoring on two occasions.
Adam Sargent had to be alert to save a snap shot from Liam Dreckmann, while Mark Broughton glanced a header wide of Sargent’s far post from a corner.
But it was Osborne who opened the scoring for United as the young striker grabbed his first goal in senior football after two highly successful seasons playing in the Under 18 squad.
Osborne found himself in an acre of space after beating the offside trap following a flick from Paul Rogers and showed great composure to take the ball around Knight and slot into the empty net.
Capon denied by the feet of Knight at the start of the second half as United looked for that all important second goal.
The second goal did come and it came from talismanic captain Wes Tate.
Tate crossed into the area and found Bailo Camara, who was unceremoniously dragged down in the area by Midhurst player/manager Gary Norgate.
Tate stepped up and hit the resulting penalty past Knight, his fourth successful spot kick of the season.
Osborne struck again with twenty minutes to play as he rifled a low effort home after a superb first touch to confirm United’s place in the Second Round
