Jarvis, alongside Mike Gardner, Dean Stevens, Jonno Melia and Bailo Camara were amongst the debutants for United, while Horsham YMCA would no doubt be looking to improve on last season’s 4th place finish that included victory in the RUR Cup final.

Ben Putland came close to giving United a first half lead with a glancing header, but it was just the wrong side of the post.
Lucas Mann did find the back of the net on 34 minutes, but his goal was ruled out for offside after Camara had beaten two defenders to set up the returning striker.
YM looked threatening in attack, but Jarvis and Stevens made opportunities hard to come by, with Dave Brown attempting to beat Adam Sargent from 45 yards with an opportunistic effort that sailed past the post.
Brown did manager to breach the United defence two minutes later, but his heavy touch saw the ball run past Sargent and out for a United goal kick.

Simon Rowland was forced into a change at the start of the second half when Melia was forced off with a knock, to be replaced by Ben Dartnall.
Three minutes after Dartnall’s introduction, United were ahead as Dan Pollard rose highest to head towards goal and amongst a scramble inside the six yard box, Jarvis saw his effort cross the line.
Mann came a posts width away from extending the lead, but his 25 yard lob hit the far post and rebounded into play.
Dartnall could have made the game safe with two minutes remaining when he found himself clear in the area, but the ball was poached from his grasp by YM ‘keeper Lockwood
