The fixture was being replayed after the original game was abandoned at half-time on 20th December with Ringmer leading 3-0 after floodlight failure at The Oval.
At the second time of asking, United started the brighter and came close inside the opening ten minutes through Lucas Mann and the returning Jason Taylor.
The clearest opportunity of the first quarter of an hour fell to Ringmer’s Seb Saunders, but after finding a way through Adam Davidson and Nathan Cole, his weak effort was comfortably gathered by Russ Tanner.
With twenty minutes on the clock, United got their noses in front as Joe Summerbell powerfully placed an effort into the bottom corner from 25 yards out.
The lead however, was to be short-lived.
The lively Jordan Woodley whipped a cross in from the left by-line past a static United defence to Aaron Hopkinson who slid home at the far post.
Woodley nearly put Ringmer ahead as he flashed an effort across goal, while at the other end Mann stung the palms of Ringmer ‘keeper Callum Christie.
It was a case of deja-vu for United five minutes before half time as Ringmer got their second; in almost identical fashion to their first.
Woodley again fizzed in a cross from the left and this time found George Cousins at the back post who guided the ball into the net.
Woodley saw a long range free kick held by Tanner at the start of the second half before Christie denied Taylor with an outstretched foot from point blank range, with the rebound from Mann cleared off the goaline.
Mann was withdrawn from the action on 64 minutes to be replaced by Peter Cooper, and Cooper made an almost instant impact to draw United level.
Wes Tate’s corner was headed goalwards by Taylor and Cooper got ahead of his marker to glance past Christie and pull United back onto level terms.
The lead proved to be short-lived again as just five minutes later, Ringmer retook the lead as Dan Bolwell hit a 25 yard free kick against the bar before rebounding into the net off the unfortunate Tanner.
A further four minutes later, Ringmer made it four as a free kick on the by-line, fully 30 yards from goal, evaded all ahead of him and snuck inside Tanner’s near post.
Tanner prevented Bolwell from making it five as he rushed to stop an indirect free kick after picking up a pass back.
It just wasn’t to be United’s night as the final action saw Cooper hit the post in injury time, before the ball rebounded and hit the striker on the knee as the ball went harmlessly behind for a goal kick and the final whistle was blown
