On a blustery afternoon in Eastbourne, it was United who threatened first as leading scorer Liam Baitup saw a deflected effort comfortably gathered by Newhaven ‘keeper Jake Buss.
But with just 11 minutes played, it was the visitors who took the lead as Adam Davidson’s header back to James Broadbent fell short of the United ‘keeper and Lee Robinson stole in to round Broadbent and place the ball into an empty net.
A little over 5 minutes later, the Dockers’ lead was doubled as Joe Dryer’s corner kick drifted in the wind and was met by centre half Connor Sidwell on the edge of the six yard box, who headed home with ease.
Chances were few and far between for both sides with Dave Smart coming closest for United with a 30yd volley while Robinson lifted over the bar when through on goal for the visitors in the second half as the game petered out, with Newhaven going home victorious
