Loxwood came into the match sitting at the top of the league and hit the crossbar in the opening minutes but were then completely overrun by a superb attacking display that saw an interval lead of 4-0.
The impressive Jason Taylor had fizzed a shot narrowly wide before breaking away on the left and setting up Ryan McBride for a right foot shot wide to the ‘keepers left on 14 minutes.
On 19 minutes McBride won a knock down header for Jerahl Hughes to square a ball along the six yard box for Taylor to sweep home.
Taylor was in the thick of the action three minutes later when was crudely brought down just outside the area and Wes Tate drove home the resultant free kick low to the ‘keepers right.
Loxwood were now in disarray after United’s superb opening period and more chances came and went as United continued to stroke the ball around before Tate and Hughes combined to set up Taylor for the fourth.
Loxwood came out second half in a fighting mood, both fair and foul, and clawed a goal back on 55 minutes through Joe Holvey before the deficit was reduced again by Eddie French on 62 minutes.
Loxwood’s momentum was thwarted however when Tim Martin over stepped the mark and was dismissed for retaliation on Luke Denton after winning a free kick with twenty minutes remaining. United were able then to regain their composure and it was Taylor again who broke away on the left to fire a shot hard and low that the keeper parried into the path of substitute Ashley Darby to seal the win and return United to the top of the league
