After a weekend where Anthony Storey Eastbourne United 1st Team didn't have a fixture, the Manager didn't give them a weekend off but got all the players in for a session to prepare for the coming fixtures in two different competitions.
On Monday night the 1st team travelled to Withdean Stadium in Brighton, to play the home side AFC Varndeanians in the Sussex Senior Cup.
A match where United dominated the ball possession for all 90 minutes of the match, just lacking in converting that ball possession into more goals, but 1-0 was enough to see United progressing into the next round of the competition.
The 2nd match of the week, saw Eastbourne United returning to the Oval to play East Preston in the Southern Combination League, Premier Division.
Looking to keep the good form, Anthony Storey side saw the return of Max Thompson and Alfie Peacock for selection after a couple of weeks off due to illness that saw the pair missing the matches against Peacehaven (Max) and |Varndeanians.
As expected, United took the game to the visitors, looking to get an early lead, that lead came 10 minutes into the 1st half, when a brilliant play from the left wing, with Tigana crossing the ball for Max to finish the play in the near post.
Without any time to re-group, East Preston saw themselves 2-0 down 15 minutes later with a shot from the left that to the bottom left corner of the goal, with no chance for the goalkeeper, with so many players in the way.
Just before the half, United could have gone 3-0 up if it wasn't from a brilliant save from a close range shot, that the visitors' goalkeeper only had the chance to deflect the ball to the crossbar.
The 2nd half saw United coming out with more hunger to increase their lead, almost not letting the opposition come out of their own half, chances still being created from United players, but the goalkeeper refused to let another in.
Another great performance from Anthony Storey side, that see themselves climbing that league and finishing the October month unbeaten.
Now the 1st team travels to Pagham away to face the local side sitting 2nd on the table.
