After a disappointing midweek result in the Sussex Senior Cup against Mile Oak, Anthony Storey's Eastbourne United side was looking to bounce back as they took the trip to Steyning in the SCFL premier division.

United from the first whistle wanted to impose their football, and dominate the game, which has been their way of playing every match.
So it didn't take long for United to take a lead after they were awarded a free kick in favour of Tigana, who got brought down after a great run on the left-wing. Alfie Headlands scored a perfect header after a quick free-kick elaborated between Bailo Camara and Jack Murphy who put in a great cross into the box for the central defender to make it 0-1 for the visitors.

It didn't take for United to make it a second of the afternoon when a ball played into Steyning midfield got intercepted by Brett Patton, who carried the ball forward and didn't stop until his shot hit the back of the net to make it 0-2.

United made it 0-3 when another ball played into the home side midfield got intercepted once again, but this time it was Ibrahim Bamba with similar play as Brett who drove the ball to the edge of the Steyning box and fired a low shot past the home teams goalkeeper.

Just before halftime, United could have increased their lead, if Bailo Camara's through ball to Max Thompson could have had ended in a goal.

In the second half, things changed much in terms of dominance in the game, Eastbourne United kept searching for more goals, and this half offered 5 more goals.
Max Thompson, first of four goals of the afternoon, came through a near-post header, who converted it from a corner on the left taken by Bailo Camara. Max's second goal, came after a great play on the right side between Dee Okojie, Bailo Camara and Ibrahim Bamba, who would find Max on the edge of the box to fire a shot on the near post that the goalkeeper wouldn't be able to save, but Max didn't seem to want to stop here. Minutes later Tigana, who had been a constant threat to the Steyning backline, made another tremendous run that would only end when he got brought down in the penalty box, which gave Max the chance to get his first hat-trick of the season and third goal of the afternoon in under 10 minutes.

After a few chances made by both sides, the quality of the game dropped slightly, but that didn't stop Max from getting his fourth of the day.
Without more to add to the game, Steyning would get a consolidation goal before the final whistle blew to round off a superb afternoon for Storeys Eastbourne United team.
