The month of October month ended with Anthony Storey's Eastbourne United side recording 4 wins and 1 draw out of the 5 matches played which gave the side a boost of confidence to start the November month strong.
On Tuesday night Eastbourne United travelled to West Sussex to visit Pagham who were 14 matches unbeaten and 2nd in the league table until the 2-3 defeat to the visitors.
A cold November night saw United starting the 1st half really strong with a goal 2 minutes into the half scored by the young attacker Max Thompson, after good play on the right wing, that saw the Pagham goalkeeper making the save on the 1st attempt but couldn't stop the rebound that ended in the back on the net.
After the goal, it was natural for Pagham to come out and try to get the equaliser before the half. A few chances were created by the home side, that didn't result in a goal due to a well organised United back four and also a solid Phil Hawkins between the posts.
United tried to catch Pagham on the counter-attack, due to their constant attack which left them exposed and vulnerable at the back, which could have resulted in another goal for the visitors, but the half would end up 0-1.
The 2nd half saw Pagham determined to stay unbeaten and turn the game around, which led to an equaliser for the home side after a free kick taken wide into the box and a loose ball was well struck by Pagham defender to make it 1-1, Pagham used their momentum to take the lead when the Pagham left wing playing on the right, cut inside and with an amazing strike into the top corner, saw them taking the lead 2-1.
Paghams' lead didn't last long, United saw themselves back in the game when a back pass from the Pagham defence to their goalkeeper who miscontrolled the ball and it ended up in the back of the net making it 2-2.
With the game being well contested by both sides, the turning point came when Tigana was brought down in the box by Pagham right back which gave Max Thompson the chance to put United back in the lead from the penalty spot making it 2-3. Not only were Pagham down on the scoreboard, they saw themselves down to 10 men after a nasty challenge from the Pagham left back on Festos that was already on his way into the Pagham defensive third.
After these 2 situations, Pagham tried to go direct with the hope to get a late equaliser, but United showed plenty of character and determination to leave with all 3 points in the bag.
United are away to AFC Varndeanians this Saturday at Withdean Stadium Complex with a 3 pm KO
